Because of our challenging weather, the Youth concert scheduled for Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 3 p.m. will now start at 4 p.m. The orchestra will have it's dress rehearsal on the main stage of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts from 1 p.m. to 3:15 pm on Sunday, February 21.
WELCOME
Thank you for your support during the 2008-2009 concert season. It was our third full year as the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. Along with our new name, we have a different type of scheduling. Our concert year now goes from October through April, with our final concert being the Fourth of July performance in Tracy Park.
Our concerts feature the very best in classical and pops music performed by an accomplished ensemble of fifty local and regional musicians. We were excited to welcome some very talented young people to our orchestra. As you have heard, our musicians are making wonderful sounds and improve with each passing year. The concerts are entertaining and suitable for all ages.
Not only can you enjoy the great orchestral music from the best of Broadway to the sensuous sound of the great masters of all time, you learn about the works from the informative comments of Maestro Carl Daehler.
Our outstanding musicians,many of whom are your neighbors, friends, and teachers, are joined by accomplished soloists and guest performers from the tri-state area.
The PSO Board has worked hard to bring to Southern Ohio a performing organization worthy of being called a symphony orchestra. Additionally, we from time to time have the added pleasures of the Portsmouth Community Chorale and Director, Charles Varney.
