Cirque de Symphonique

Scioto County's own local Cirque d'Art performers in conjunction with the Southern Ohio Museum will be special guests of the PSO. The acrobatics of not only the performers, but also the exciting music of the Circus and Halloween highlights this special concert.

Holiday Pops & Premier

Our annual Holiday Concert lets the audience enjoy the classical, pops and traditional sing-a-long holiday music, along with special performances by many special guests. As a special treat, the orchestra will be accompanying recording artist Steve Free, in the public premiere of two new works from his just-released Christmas CD. The concert will also feature the Portsmouth Symphony Chorus and the Portsmouth Elementary School choir under the direction of Emily Smith.

Teenage Talent

This concert highlights the talents of our area young people including performances by the winners of the Portsmouth Kiwanis Chopin competition and the Dorothy Knost Scioto Foundation scholarship winners. These are versatile young people who play everything from classical pieces to show tunes.

Appalachian Artistry

This year the PSO is coming back home to celebrate the wonderful tradition of Appalachian music, featuring repertoire drawn from classical, folk and popular realms. The concert features music by Aaron Copland and southern Ohio composer Scott Michal.

and it's completely free!

All concerts take place in the main theater of Shawnee State University's Vern Riffe Center for the Arts in Portsmouth, Ohio with the exception of An American Celebration which takes place in Tracy Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.
